Hub Rotating Tool (HRT)

During the installation sequence of the hub and rotor of a wind turbine generator (WTG) there are several moments when not all the blades will be attached to the hub. This causes a significant imbalance in the rotor which exceeds the capacity of the internal drive system.

The hub rotating tool is designed to be used as installation aid for the hub and subsequently as lever. A passive connector attached to the installation crane engages with the receptor on the rotating tool, allowing the powerful crane to overcome the imbalance and rotate the hub to a new position for blade installation. The containerized design allows for transport and mobilization by means of standard logistics.
