Lifting in offshore wind requires more than a capable crane. It requires a system that arrives ready, performs predictably, and fits the operational reality of the site. The starting point was a clear operational challenge: reliable, controlled lifting in a space-constrained offshore environment, without the need for a dedicated crane vessel or fixed infrastructure.
Tillen's engineers translated that requirement into a compact, self-contained lifting system. A foundation frame, a 10-foot certified tool container, and a container-mounted crane, interconnected using standardised twistlock connections and outfitted for immediate offshore use.
The result is a unit that deploys in a single lift and is operational within a short set-up time, without requiring external power or additional ground support. For Van Oord, Tillen supplied a Container Based Crane to support offshore wind installation work. From the initial design concept through to assembly, testing, and offshore deployment, Tillen managed the complete process.
