For the major renovation of the bridge at Oude Wetering, we were responsible for the complete engineering of both the mechanical and structural components. This included the new bridge drive system, hydraulic installations, railings, access platforms, and maintenance walkways. In close collaboration with the contractor and project team, we translated the specifications and initial concepts into a production-ready design. Since the original plans dated back to 1950, we questioned the reliability of the available dimensions. To ensure accuracy, we initiated a 3D scan of the bridge and adjusted the design accordingly. The entire structural design complies with ISO 14122 standards.

Applicable codes/norm:

●   ISO 14122

Facts and figures:

●   Original bridge mechanism built in 1950: The original drive system dated back more than 70 years and was fully replaced during this project.
●   Full 3D scan for accurate design: To verify dimensions and avoid relying solely on outdated drawings, the entire bridge was 3D scanned and the design was updated accordingly.
●   Designed according to ISO 14122: All new railings, platforms, and access structures were engineered in compliance with ISO 14122 safety standards.
